Walking Tour through Pelourinho
Overview of the tour in Salvador
The viewpoint at Castro Alves Square is one of the main entrances to Pelourinho, and it is here where we will start our tour.
Leaving Castro Alves Square and following Chile Street, we will reach Thomé de Souza Square, where we will pass by the Rio Branco Palace, the "Tira Chapéu" mansion, and make a stop next to the famous Lacerda Elevator to learn about its history in detail.
As we proceed to Sé Square, we will learn about the history of the Primatial Cathedral of Sé, which was demolished in 1933. Shortly after, we will visit the Fallen Cross monument to also learn about its history and connection to the old cathedral.
We will pass by the statues of Brazil's first bishop and Zumbi dos Palmares, follow the colorful houses of Terreiro de Jesus Square, Largo do Cruzeiro de São Francisco, and the Olodum House, and finally reach the heart of Salvador's historical center, the first capital of Brazil.
