Overview
I will meet you near the Gur Emir Mausoleum, one of the most beautiful architectural monuments in Samarkand. I will tell you about important moments in Timur's life and reign, as well as his descendants and legends associated with the opening of his grave.
Then we will walk to Registan Square - the "calling card" of the city. This is the square where three majestic madrassas are located - Muslim schools of the 15th and 17th centuries. We will examine each madrasah from the inside and admire their spacious courtyard and small cells.
The next object is the Bibi-Khanym Mosque, named after Amir Temur's beloved wife. The grandeur of its dome was compared to the sky and the arch of the gate to the Milky Way.
Continuing our walk we will visit the Khazrati Khizr Mosque and admire the panorama of the city from the observation deck. Our last object is located on the territory of the ancient settlement of Afrasiab, which is 2750 years old. This is the Shahi-Zinda complex - the pearl of Samarkand.
The complex consists of very beautiful azure mausoleums of the 11th - 15th centuries. The interiors of the mausoleums are richly decorated by local and Iranian craftsmen.
