Free Tour in San Francisco
Overview of the tour in San Francisco
This is the original Free SF Tour that started in October 2015 as a local initiative to give people an opportunity to express their love for San Francisco. The Free SF Tour runs every day at 10 am, starting at Union Square at the corner of Post and Powell streets. It's the perfect introduction to the City by the Bay, and it's probably the one tour you don't want to be missing when in town. Useful insider tips are given by the guides both in person and with the Manual Of the City - a comprehensive guide of local tips and tricks, what to do, where to eat and drink, and many more - emailed to everybody in attendance.
The free walking tour covers most of downtown San Francisco: Union Square, Chinatown, Financial District, and Embarcadero. We’d be telling stories about places, people, historical events, and current affairs; buried ships under the buildings, influential women, gold diggers, and earthquakes. We talk about how present-day San Francisco was shaped by the Gold Rush, the Civil Rights movements, the Silicone Valley, and the contribution of different peoples to the city's unique character.
