Free Walking Tour of San José
Overview of the tour in San Jose
Hi, and welcome to this wonderful walking tour of San Jose! Nice to meet you. My name is Marian, and I'm French-Costa Rican. I love sharing everything I know about San José, my hometown. I'll take you off the beaten track to discover San José differently and enjoyably, all the while getting some exercise on this superb walking tour.
Not only will we visit the main historical monuments and learn a little more about the history of Costa Rica (National Museum, National Theater, Parks), but you'll also have the opportunity to experience San José as we Costa Ricans (the "ticos") do: you'll see places less known and less frequented by tourists, little tastings, and we'll end the tour in the picturesque Central Market where you can stroll around and sample the local cuisine and do a little shopping for local handicrafts. You'll also receive plenty of tips for your stay: authenticity first!
Make the most of San José, a colorful and eclectic city that harbors treasures unsuspected by tourists - a change of scenery guaranteed! Join me, and I'll happily share everything I know about this amazing city.
This activity includes:
- National Museum of Costa Rica
- Un aperçu de l'Histoire du Costa Rica
- La possibilité de déguster des mets locaux
- Une chance pour flâner et prendre votre temps
Our Guides
On arrival
We will meet 10 minutes before the scheduled time in front of the main entrance to the Museo Nacional de Costa Rica. You'll recognize me easily because I have slanted eyes and dark skin.
Things to note
Please be on time if you don't want to miss the first information on the History of Costa Rica. If you arrive after the hour, you can still join us if you have a way to send me a message or if you find us on the course.
Tips:
San José, like any other city in the world, is home to pickpockets. Don't wear ostentatious signs of wealth or any object that might attract the attention of these "lovers of other people's things" (jewelry, electronic devices, etc.)
Remember to:
- Wear comfortable clothes and shoes for walking
- It's best to wear warm clothes and bring a sweater in case the temperature drops
- Bring an umbrella, windbreaker, or raincoat (there may be showers, especially in the wet season)
- Have some cash with you, just in case
- Bring your best attitude for maximum enjoyment!
