Overview

In this barely two-hour walk, we delve not into the history of Santillana, but into its intra-history, those little great stories, those curious anecdotes that are building the great edifice of History.
Every year, tens of thousands of tourists walk the cobbled streets of the town, captivated by the unique beauty of its houses, its convents, its towers, its palaces, and, of course, its collegiate church.
They walk immersed in that atmosphere that transports them to another time, to another world, admiring every detail, every coat of arms, every stone... and they leave impressed by the unique beauty of this town.
But they have only seen the stage of the play.
They are ignoring the exciting history that was represented in this setting throughout twelve centuries, during which intrigues, deceptions, battles, betrayals, and romances took place... and that throughout this walk we will get to know and reel off.
A walk in which you will enjoy, learn, be surprised and laugh.
A walk that, surely, will not leave you indifferent.

See you!

“Visit to Santillana”
This summer I had the opportunity to visit the charming town of Santillana, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere of the place enveloped us. One of the best parts of our visit was the guided tour we took. Our guide, Ana, really made the difference. Her in-depth knowledge about the culture of the town was impressive. Not only did she share interesting historical facts, but she also told us local anecdotes that made every corner of the town come alive. He took us to the most emblematic places, but also to those hidden corners that only the locals know. In addition, he took the time to answer all our questions, which made us feel really connected to the history and traditions of the place. I would definitely recommend visiting Santillana and, if you have the opportunity, taking the tour with Ana. It is an experience that not only teaches you about the place, but also leaves you with a deep appreciation for its culture and people. Not to be missed!

“Very good but with essential gaps ”
Free Tour very didactic and entertaining, with curious explanations, adapted to a plain and simple language for the public. The guide is very nice and attentive. It rained and she was kind enough to leave us an umbrella, details that are not forgotten. As the only negative point, she focuses more on the purely historical aspects and leaves aside the artistic aspects. It would be essential to describe the enormous and monumental iconographic program of the Collegiate Church of Santa Julia, a true jewel of Romanesque art worldwide. This was missing, and it would be nice to complement the tour with a visit to the cloister, stopping by the porticoed "paradise" of its capitals and columns. Obviously the entrance fee is paid by the visitor, of course. Despite this important fact, I fully recommend the freetour as I said before, because you learn and enjoy. All criticism is constructive to improve, best regards and see you next time!

“A great guide!!!!”
Santillana is beautiful but with our guide even more. Ana is super professional and knew how to lead the visit in a special way that makes you not stop listening to her for a moment and learn many things about Santillana beyond giving dates and dates. Thank you Ana. Of the 3 free tours I have done this week, yours was the best. Keep it up!!!
