Travnik and Jajce Waterfall Tour from Sarajevo
Overview of the tour in Sarajevo
Our journey to the west begins with a visit to Travnik, a city that served as the capital of the Bosnian eyalet for many years. This charming city is also known as the "city of viziers" as it was the residence of the Ottoman grand viziers. We will explore the city's traditional Bosnian houses and visit the medieval fortress that offers stunning views of the city and the Plava Voda (Blue Water) river. Continuing our journey, we arrive in Jajce, the former capital of the independent medieval Kingdom of Bosnia. This city, situated on the banks of the rivers Pliva and Vrbas, is a true gem of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We will marvel at the magnificent 18-meter-high waterfalls, which are the most prominent feature of the city. From the Jajce fortress, we will enjoy breathtaking views of the surroundings, taking a pleasant walk along the ramparts. Inside the defensive walls of Jajce, we will explore the Catacombs, an underground labyrinth that dates back to the medieval times. A few kilometers away from Jajce are the Pliva Lakes, a serene and peaceful place where you can experience how the water power was harnessed in the Middle Ages to produce flour and seeds for bread-making.
