The Seville of the Ibero-American Exposition
Overview of the tour in Seville
In 1929 the Ibero-American Exposition was held in Seville, an event of great economic, touristic, diplomatic, social and cultural importance that will lead to a transformation of much of the urban planning and architecture of the city. Transformation in which all those countries and companies invited will also collaborate, leaving, in many cases, an indelible legacy that I would like to show you.
In a walk through the southern part of the city we will travel through Argentina, Peru, Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia. And all without leaving Seville.
We will talk about the economic and political circumstances that led each country to participate in the Exposition, the architecture of their pavilions, their current uses and the curiosities or anecdotes that surround them.
did you know that the Plaza de España was a pavilion, or that there was an amusement park at the event? Why did Portugal put a Chinese pagoda on its pavilion? What do the images of the Colombian pavilion symbolize? Did you know that Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo's husband, was involved in the Mexican pavilion? I will answer these and many other questions in an unusual tour of the city's tourist circuits.
