Overview
Let’s take a walk through Šibenik, a city of enchanting stone streets that transport you to the Middle Ages! The oldest native Croatian city on the Adriatic, Šibenik, was first mentioned in 1066 in a document by King Petar Krešimir IV, earning it the name "Krešimir's town."
On August 28, 1895, thanks to Nikola Tesla’s patents, Šibenik became the first city in the world to have public lighting powered by alternating electricity. The city is also home to the stunning Cathedral of St. James, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.
Šibenik boasts four fortresses that once defended it from land and sea, including the fortress of St. Nicholas, also under UNESCO protection.
Many notable figures hail from Šibenik, including inventor Faust Vrančić, basketball legend Dražen Petrović, pianist Maksim Mrvica, and actor Goran Višnjić.
Tour highlights:
- Šibenik Cathedral of St. James
- St. John’s Church
- Unique coats of arms on palaces
- Fat Street
- City Hall
- The oldest church in town
- Music Square
- St. Francis Monastery
And more… But let’s keep some surprises!
Booking one day in advance is recommended.
