In the afternoon, we’ll visit Angkor Wat, a temple complex that started as a Hindu site and later became Buddhist. Built-in the early 12th century by Khmer King Suryavarman II in Yasodharapura (present-day Angkor), it was his state temple and eventual mausoleum. Dedicated to Vishnu, it stands as the best-preserved temple and remains a significant religious center. Angkor Wat is a masterpiece of high classical Khmer architecture and a symbol of Cambodia, even appearing on the national flag.
