Walks & Talks: The Highlights of Split
Overview
You’ll experience the unique blend of history & modern life while learning about the traditions & stories of the people who still call this ancient Roman palace their home.
A fun fact: Diocletian’s Palace, built over 1700 years ago, continues to serve as a residence for many today. It’s like stepping into living history!
To ensure everyone receives personal attention, I keep the group size small, with no more than 16 people, allowing for a more engaging and intimate experience.
A quick note on tips: if you feel I’ve delivered a great experience, a tip per person is expected as a customary way to show appreciation for the effort & care put into the tour. It’s a respectful gesture that acknowledges the value of the insights and stories shared.
Throughout the tour, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Split’s rich past & dynamic present, uncovering its fascinating history while enjoying the vibrant city it is today.
The tour lasts around 1:15 min.
I’m excited to share this journey with you!
Warm regards,
Mirjana.

On arrival
The meeting point for the tour is at Hervoyeva 4, at the East Gate of Diocletian’s Palace. Here’s how to find it easily:
1. From the Riva (waterfront):
• Walk to the very beginning of the Riva, near the Green Market (Pazar).
• Look for a parking ramp nearby. To the right of the ramp, you’ll see a large wall that looks like part of a fortress—this is the east wall of Diocletian’s Palace.
2. Find the Green Market (Pazar):
• Walk along the street next to the Green Market, keeping the wall on your left and the market stalls on your right.
• As you walk, you’ll notice an entrance to a church on your right-hand side.
3. Spot the stairs:
• On the left-hand side, directly across from the church, you’ll see stairs leading down into the palace.
• This is the East Gate of Diocletian’s Palace, where I will be waiting for you at the top of the stairs.
