Overview of the tour in Tallinn
In the Middle Ages, Tallinn had one of the greatest and strongest defense systems in Northern Europe. Now, it has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the best preserved medieval city walls, with fortification remains that span 1. 85 km.
On this tour, we'll walk along the whole defensive wall of Tallinn (to ascertain the fact that old cities weren't big at all) and will have opportunity to explore the highlights on the main street of Old Town.
I'll share curiosities such as the way that people measured the distance between towers and why they began to build bastions in front of the wall. I also promise to go beyond the fortifications, addressing who were the people who lived in the lower town and on the upper hill, who was "Fat Margareth", how gossipers were punished, and what medicines were used to treat love pains. . .
