Tallinn Medieval Wall, Towers and Bastions Free Tour
Overview of the tour in Tallinn
In the Middle Ages, Tallinn had one of the greatest and strongest defensive systems in Northern Europe. Now, it has been declared a UNESCO Site and is considered one of the best-preserved medieval towns.
On this tour, we'll walk along the medieval wall, and explore its beautiful towers and also the bastions that appeared around the Old Town at the end of the 17th century.
Besides defensive structures, we will see the main highlights of Old Town High Street.
Along the walk, we will discuss earlier generations' way of life. You will know how people measured the distance between towers, what medicines they used to treat love pains & drunkenness, how gossipers were punished, why journeymen were obliged to travel, and the penalty for horse theft... Plenty of medieval curiosities await to be told.
