The tour includes the main landmarks of communist history in the city of Tirana: The monument of the unknown soldier, National Museum of History, the National Palace of Culture, former headquarters of the Albanian Communist Party among others. During the 2hour-hour-long walking tour you will learn about the theory of communism, the history of communism in Albania, and get an interesting firsthand account of life pre and post Iron Curtain to understand the local way of living, and not just see the city from a tourist’s viewpoint. The lesser-known stories reveal interesting facts about traveling, housing, education, media, propaganda, sport, healthcare, religion, and the economy under Communism and in comparison with the post-Communist era. We'll provide a clear picture about how Albanian people feel about their communist history today.
