Overview of the tour in Tomar
Medieval history will always be a mystery due to the lack of documents. However, Portugal has a unique connection with the Templar Knights.
They conquered all the boundaries of this small country, and in the 14th century, when French King Philip the Fair accused the Templar Knights of being pagans, it didn’t happen in Portugal. Our King D. Dinis recognized their help in building the kingdom and only changed their name and symbol from the Templar Knights to the Order of Christ.
That’s why the castle in Tomar belongs to the Templar Knights, but the convent is already part of the Order of Christ. It’s a special place that took about seven centuries of continuous construction, where we can find true history books.

On arrival
I will be waiting for you in the main car park with one outside coffee shop, near the huge gate from the castle. You should bring comfortable clothes, shoes, a water bottle and a camera.
