Berber Villages Adventure: Takrouna & Zriba
Overview of the tour in Tunis
Your full day excursion begins as you board your coach for a 1h30 scenic ride to TAKROUNA a Berber village and historic site which played a decisive role in the end of the Second World War in Tunisia. It forms with JRADOU and ZRIBA a site with typical and traditional architecture: stone houses, vaulted rooms and interior courtyards. Its beauty is matched only by its simplicity. The intimate aspect of this visit is the charm of the old Berber villages.
Upon arrival, commence a walking guided tour of TAKROUNA where still families of Berber origin, living from agriculture, the weaving of Alfa and Berber carpets.
There will be an opportunity to visit the local museum and sample typical mint tea as we “live” this intrinsic experience.
After which, re -board your vehicle and drive to ZRIBA OLIA, an abandoned Berber village was built in the seventeenth century but deserted in the 1960s leaving behind ruins, which now days can be explored. Upon arrival, enjoy a hiking through many of the rooms and buildings and a typical local set-menu lunch at DAR ZRIBA.
At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your 4WD vehicle and commence the approximately 1-hour drive back to the hotel.
