Overview
In 1519, the Government of the Republic of Venice founded this Jewish quarter to involuntarily lock up in it all the Jews who lived in Venice and those who came from outside.
This Jewish quarter is considered the oldest ghetto in the world. We will walk through its narrow streets where Koscher food restaurants, Jewish-themed bookstores, and craft stores with Jewish motifs abound. We will pass by its five synagogues, the Jewish Museum, and the Rosso Bank, the oldest in the world.
