5. Tiergarten
Berlin's largest, most central, and probably most popular, inner-city park is the Tiergarten. It is constantly frequented by local Berliners as well as visitors to the city year round and is an ideal place to escape the bustle of the busy side of Berlin as it offers some peaceful, spacious ares with beautiful gardens, lawns and green spaces, lakes & ponds as well areas to stroll, jog and cycle all the while surrounded by relaxed activity thanks to some cafés, restaurant, people picnicking, barbecuing and, in Winter, even ice-skating.
The 342 hectare park has a long history too, going back to the early 16th Century and bearing witness to centuries of significant events including Nazi occupation, and is home to many remarkable memorials and statues.
