15. Shopping in Berlin
Berlin, a centre for fashion, trend-setting, style and edge, is a shopper's paradise brimming with designer & high-street retailers, boutiques, department stores & shopping centres, small independent shops, flea markets and vintage stores.
The Kaufhaus des Westens, or KaDeWe as the locals call it, is the largest department store on the continent while Kurfürstendamm and its side streets is a prime shopping area too. Hackescher Markt, around Rosenthaler Platz and Potsdamer Platz Arkaden are vibrant yet laid-back shopping areas with many quaint cafés and restaurants and Alexanderplats, the largest public square in Germany, is a vast pedestrianised space with any number of shops, cafés eateries and bars as well as the Alexa shopping centre while Kreuzberg is the area to go to for original and new design as well as vintage and retro ware.
